Where Should I Go Next?

Why the Answer Lies in Your Current Season of Life

I get asked this a lot —
Shally, just tell me where to go…

And every time, I smile and ask them back —
But why do you want to travel?

Silence.

And that’s usually where my work begins.

We’ve made travel into a checklist —
a long weekend here, a short trip there, one more sunset in our photo gallery.
But when I ask people why they want to leave — the real reason —
they pause.

Because most people don’t even know what season they’re in.

And no, I don’t mean the weather.

What season are you in, really?

Are you burnt out?
Tired of the same people and their energies?
Do you want to be alone, or do you want to meet people who feel alive again?

Do you need rest?
Inspiration?
A place where you can just sit still and hear yourself again?

Are you aching for creativity — or are you simply trying to survive the noise in your head?

These are seasons.

And when you understand your season — you’ll know what kind of place your soul is asking for.

If you’re in a season of letting go…

Go where there’s water.
Saltwater especially — it cleanses more than skin.
It quiets your mind, washes over your overthinking, and leaves you lighter.

I’ve seen it happen — clients who were carrying too much walk along the shore for a day, and something slowly lifts.
The breeze brings in joy, the music of the beach lets them loosen up again, and suddenly, they’re laughing without needing a reason.

If you’re in a season of reflection…

Go to the mountains.
They’ll hold you the way only something ancient and grounded can.

A single cup of chai on a crisp morning.
The sound of a river you didn’t expect.
A bonfire with strangers who feel like mirrors.

Mountains teach you to slow down, to breathe, to be okay with stillness.
You come back a little quieter, a little more you.

But here’s the thing—

Most people don’t know what they need.
They just know they want to escape.

And that’s okay — that’s where I come in.

When someone comes to me and says,

“Just tell me where to go, Shally.”

I don’t throw names of trending places.
I ask questions. The right ones.

We sit together — sometimes over a call, sometimes over chai —
and I ask them:

  • What’s been on your mind lately?
  • What do you need more of — silence, creativity, movement, slowness?
  • When was the last time you felt truly alive?

And based on that,
I design an itinerary that’s not just a trip — it’s a realignment.

Because here’s what I believe:

We don’t travel because we have extra money.
We travel because our life is seeking something.

It’s not about how much money you spend —

It’s about how intentionally you choose where to go.

You could book a luxury villa, and still come back feeling empty.
Or you could spend 3 days in a mountain homestay, talking to a village grandmother, and come back with a softened heart and clearer mind.

One isn’t better than the other.
But one is definitely truer to your season.

So the next time you ask yourself,
“Where should I go next?”
Start with this:

What am I looking for in this moment of life?
What feeling do I want to return with?
What would make this trip worth remembering 5 years from now?

And if you don’t know where to begin —
That’s what I’m here for.

To ask, to listen, to curate the moments that your season is calling for.

Not every holiday changes your life. But the right one — at the right time — absolutely can.
