Day 01: Arrival at Phuentsholing

  • Arrive by flight (Bagdogra Airport) or train (NJP, Alipur, or Hashimara) 
  • Alternative transfers from Darjeeling, Gangtok, or Kalimpong available 
  • Meet your driver at Bagdogra Airport or nearby railway station 
  • Scenic 4–5 hour drive (175 km) through tea gardens and West Bengal towns to the Indo-Bhutan border 
  • Arrive at Jaigaon–Phuentsholing border, complete immigration formalities 
  • Cross into Bhutan via the Pedestrian Terminal (Jaigaon–Phuentsholing) 
  • Transfer to hotel and check-in 
  • Meet your Bhutanese guide 
  • Evening stroll through Phuentsholing market 
  • Optional visit to Zangto Pelri Lhakhang if time permits 

Day 02: Phuentsholing – Thimphu (165 km / 5–6 hrs)

  • Early morning departure for Thimphu 
  • En route visit to Rinchending Monastery 
  • Stop for photo opportunities at scenic villages and waterfalls 
  • Arrive and check in to hotel in Thimphu 
  • Evening walking tour: Clock Tower Square & Bhutanese Crafts Market 
  • Visit Tashichho Dzong (after 5 PM on working days) 
  • Overnight in Thimphu 

Day 03: In Thimphu

  • Visit National Memorial Chorten – a major city landmark 
  • Explore Buddha Dordenma Statue – 51.5m tall bronze Buddha 
  • Visit Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory 
  • Explore Simply Bhutan Museum – experience local culture and traditions 
  • Visit Motithang Takin Preserve – see Bhutan’s national animal

Day 04: Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdue (85 km / 2–3 hrs)

  • Scenic drive across Dochula Pass (3,050m) with Himalayan views 
  • Descend into Punakha/Wangdue Valley (1,450m) – sub-tropical climate 
  • Visit Richengang Village – cluster of connected houses 
  • Short walk to Chimi Lhakhang Temple (Temple of Fertility) 
  • Explore majestic Punakha Dzong – located at the confluence of Pho Chhu & Mo Chhu rivers 
  • Visit Punakha township at Khuruthang 
  • Overnight in Punakha 

Day 05: Punakha – Paro (130 km / 3–4 hrs)

  • Short morning hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten – panoramic valley views 
  • Return drive across Dochula Pass 
  • Lunch en route to Paro 
  • Visit Rinpung Dzong, National Museum (Ta Dzong), and Kichu Lhakhang Temple 
  • Optional visit to Dungtse Lhakhang or local homes 
  • Evening stroll through Paro town 
  • Overnight in Paro 

Day 06: Paro Valley (Taktsang Hike)

  • Morning drive to trailhead for Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) 
  • Hike to monastery perched on a cliff (3,120m / 10,200 ft) 
  • Optional pony ride to first viewpoint (must walk downhill) 
  • Explore monastery complex and enjoy breathtaking views 
  • Return to Paro for leisure time or town stroll 
  • Overnight in Paro 

Day 07: Paro – Phuentsholing (160 km / 5–6 hrs)

  • Enjoy a relaxed morning and breakfast 
  • Drive back to Phuentsholing 
  • Check in to hotel upon arrival 
  • Evening shopping in Phuentsholing local market – Bhutanese and Indian goods 
  • Overnight in Phuentsholing 

Day 08: Phuentsholing – Departure

  • Check out based on flight/train timing 
  • Exit through Bhutan Immigration Check Post at Jaigaon–Phuentsholing border 
  • Meet Indian vehicle and driver 
  • Scenic 4–5 hour drive to Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station via tea gardens of West Bengal 
  • Recommended: book return flight/train for 2–3 PM or later to allow smooth transfer
