Day 1 - Arrival & Orientation

  • Participants arrive at Parengtar by 4 p.m. (ideally from Siliguri)
  • Welcome by local team and transfer to homestays
  • Bonding session with hosts and opportunity to establish connections
  • Evening orientation with Muhaan team introducing the festival, its significance, and planned activities
  • Dinner at homestays

Day 2 - Village Exploration & Preparations

  • Morning hike to Dhauley forest village (opposite Parengtar) for breakfast served by the community
  • Enjoy great views of Parengtar and Bhutan
  • Optional sightseeing trips available (extra charges):
    • Visit Bindu Dam (India's oldest dam, India-Bhutan collaboration)
    • Visit Todey village (last village of Kalimpong district neighboring Bhutan)
    • Lunch in Todey
  • Participation in Asar Pandhra Festival preparations with community
  • Dinner

Day 3 - Festival Day

  • Breakfast at homestay with local flavors
  • 8:30 a.m. - Festival venue visit
  • Traditional Kirati bhumi puja (prayer to Mother Earth for prosperous farming season)
  • Exciting local games embracing the playful side of mud and rain (sapling competitions, mud races, tug of war, pole climbing)
  • Collective rice planting activity fostering unity and camaraderie
  • Community lunch featuring dahi chiura (curd and beaten rice) followed by traditional monsoon dishes
