Day 1: Chandigarh to Narkanda

  • Your journey begins early as you leave behind Chandigarh.
  • As the roads begin to curve and the air turns cooler, the landscape gradually shifts into pine forests and hillside villages. By the time you reach Narkanda, you are fully in the mountains—surrounded by silence, cedar trees, and expansive views.
  • Overnight Stay in Narkanda.

Day 2: Narkanda to Sangla – Entering Baspa Valley

  • Today, the journey deepens as you drive toward Sangla, located in the stunning Baspa Valley—one of the most picturesque regions in Himachal.
  • The route follows the Sutlej River, cutting through mountains that feel both rugged and alive. As you enter Sangla, the valley opens up into a landscape of wooden homes, apple orchards, and snow-capped peaks in the distance.
  • The Baspa Valley feels softer, greener, and more intimate—a beautiful contrast to what lies ahead in Spiti.
  • Spend your evening soaking in the quiet charm of the valley.
  • Overnight stay in Sangla

Day 3: Sangla to Kalpa – Kinner Kailash Views

  • Begin your day with a visit to Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. With its raw beauty and untouched setting, Chitkul feels like a place suspended in time.
  • Later, drive to Kalpa, a quiet village known for its uninterrupted views of the majestic Kinner Kailash range. The mountains here feel incredibly close, especially as the light changes through the day.
  • Kalpa invites you to slow down—whether it’s sitting with a cup of tea overlooking the peaks or simply absorbing the stillness of the landscape.
  • Overnight stay in Kalpa

Day 4: Kalpa to Tabo – Entering Spiti

Today marks a significant shift in your journey.

As you drive beyond Kinnaur and into Spiti, the landscape transforms dramatically. The greenery fades, the terrain becomes rugged and barren, and the sky feels wider than ever before. You have now entered the cold desert of Spiti Valley.

This is a long yet deeply rewarding drive, with every turn offering something new—cliffs, riverbeds, ancient villages, and vast open spaces.

Arrive in Tabo, home to the iconic Tabo Monastery, often referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas” for its ancient murals and spiritual significance.

Overnight stay in Tabo

Day 5: Tabo to Kaza – Into the Heart of Spiti

  • Begin your day with a visit to Dhankar Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliff overlooking the confluence of rivers below. The views here are expansive and unforgettable.
  • From Dhankar, continue your journey toward Kaza, the main town and cultural hub of Spiti Valley.
  • As you arrive in Kaza, you’ll notice a subtle shift—while still remote, it carries a gentle sense of movement, with cafés, local homes, and travellers from across the world.
  • This is your base for exploring the high-altitude villages and landscapes of Spiti.
  • Overnight stay in Kaza

Day 6: In & Around Kaza – High Villages & Hidden Worlds

Today is dedicated to exploring some of the highest inhabited regions in the world.

Drive to:

  • Hikkim – home to one of the highest post offices on the planet
  • Komic – among the highest motorable villages
  • Langza – known for its fossil-rich terrain and the iconic Buddha statue overlooking the valley

These villages are not just about altitude—they are about resilience, simplicity, and a way of life deeply connected to the land.

The landscapes here feel almost lunar—vast, silent, and deeply humbling.

Return to Kaza by evening, carrying stories from some of the most remote corners of the Himalayas.

Overnight stay in Kaza

Day 7: Kaza to Chandratal – The Moon Lake Experience

  • Today, you leave Kaza and journey toward one of Spiti’s most magical destinations—Chandratal Lake.
  • The drive is rugged and adventurous, taking you through some of the most dramatic high-altitude terrain in the region.
  • As you arrive at Chandratal, the landscape softens into a serene, crescent-shaped lake surrounded by mountains. Known as the “Moon Lake,” Chandratal is as poetic as it is beautiful.
  • Spend your evening by the lake, watching the colours shift as the sun sets. With minimal light pollution, the night sky here often reveals a stunning blanket of stars.
  • This is one of the most memorable nights of the journey.
  • Overnight stay in camps near Chandratal

Day 8: Chandratal to Manali – Crossing Into a New Landscape

  • After an early morning at Chandratal, begin your drive toward Manali.
  • The journey takes you across high mountain passes and through ever-changing terrain, eventually leading you through the Atal Tunnel, marking your re-entry into greener landscapes.
  • By the time you reach Manali, the contrast is striking—forests, flowing rivers, and a more bustling mountain town atmosphere.
  • Spend your evening at leisure, perhaps exploring the Mall Road or simply unwinding after the high-altitude journey.
  • Overnight stay in Manali

Day 9: Manali To Chandigarh

  • After breakfast, begin your return journey to home or stay back as per your choice
  • As you descend from the mountains, the landscapes shift once again—but this time, you carry the stillness, scale, and silence of Spiti with you.
  • This is not just the end of a trip—it is the closing of a deeply immersive Himalayan experience.
