Itinerary
Expand allDAY 01 – AIRPORT → CHILAW → ANURADHAPURA
- Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and meet your tour guide.
- Drive to Chilaw (approx. 2 hrs).
- Visit Angulimala Maha Seya, the world’s largest stupa containing relics of Angulimala Maharath Thera and relics of the Buddha.
- Continue to Anuradhapura (approx. 3 hrs).
- Check in to the hotel and relax.
DAY 02 – ANURADHAPURA SIGHTSEEING
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Explore the Anuradhapura Ancient City (UNESCO), one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and the cradle of Theravada Buddhism.
- Visit Isurumuniya Temple, famous for its stone carvings including the iconic Isurumuniya Lovers.
- Evening visit to Nellikulama Temple, known for its 500 arahant statues and peaceful atmosphere.
- Return to hotel for overnight stay.
DAY 03 – ANURADHAPURA → MIHINTALE → AUKANA → SIGIRIYA
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit Mihintale, the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, offering panoramic hilltop views.
- Visit Aukana Ancient Rock Temple, home to the magnificent 40-ft standing Buddha statue carved from a single rock.
- Drive to Sigiriya (approx. 2 hrs).
- Check in to the hotel and relax.
DAY 04 – SIGIRIYA → DAMBULLA → MATALE → KANDY
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit Dambulla Cave Temple (UNESCO), featuring ancient murals and 157 Buddha statues dating back to the 1st century BC.
- Continue to Kandy via Matale.
- Visit a Spice Garden and learn about local spices with a complimentary head massage.
- Visit Aluvihare Rock Cave Temple, the historic site where the Buddhist Pali Canon was first written on palm leaves.
- Continue to Kandy (approx. 1.5–2 hrs).
- Check in and relax.
DAY 05 – KANDY SIGHTSEEING
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Kandy city tour including:
- Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) – Sri Lanka’s most sacred Buddhist shrine (UNESCO).
- Visit Gadaladenyia Vihara, one of the largest rock temples of the Gampola period.
- Visit Lankatilaka Vihara, an architectural masterpiece from the same era.
- Visit local arts & crafts workshops—gem crafting, woodcarving, and batik.
- Evening Kandyan Cultural Show, featuring drummers, dancers, fire performances, and traditional rituals.
- Return to hotel.
DAY 06 – KANDY → KELANIYA → COLOMBO
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Colombo.
- En route visit Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, believed to be blessed by Buddha during his final visit to Sri Lanka.
- Evening visit to Gangaramaya Temple, a blend of Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese architectural styles with an impressive museum.
- Colombo city tour including:
- Fort, Galle Face Green
- Independence Square
- Dutch Hospital Precinct
- Cinnamon Gardens
- Pettah & Sea Street
- Shopping time at malls and boutiques.
- Return to hotel and relax.
DAY 07 – COLOMBO → BENTOTA → COLOMBO
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Bentota.
- Visit Kalutara Bodhiya, home to one of the oldest sacred Bodhi trees in Sri Lanka (2nd century BC).
- Visit Kande Vihara Temple, featuring the world’s tallest seated Buddha statue (48 m).
- Visit Galapatha Raja Maha Viharaya, a 12th-century riverside temple with ancient carvings and a reclining Buddha statue.
- Drive back to Colombo and relax.
DAY 08 – COLOMBO → AIRPORT
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Check out and transfer to the airport (approx. 1 hr) for your departure flight.
