Day 01: Arrival at Phuentsholing

  • Fly into Bagdogra airport or travel by train to New Jalpaiguri (NJP), Alipur, or Hashimara 
  • Alternative transfers available from Darjeeling, Gangtok, or Kalimpong 
  • Driver meets you at Bagdogra Airport or nearby Railway Station 
  • Transfer to Indo-Bhutan border (approximately 175 km/105 miles, 4-5 hours drive) 
  • Journey passes through scenic tea gardens and small towns of West Bengal 
  • Important: Arrive at Bagdogra airport or nearby railway stations before 1-2 PM (morning arrivals best) 
  • Pass through Pedestrian Terminal at Jaigaon-Phuentsholing border 
  • Complete Bhutan Immigration Check post formalities to enter Phuentsholing 
  • Transfer to nearby hotel and check-in 
  • Meet your Bhutanese Guide 
  • Evening stroll through the lively market 
  • Optional visit to Zangto Pelri Lhakhang if time permits 

Day 02: Phuentsholing – Thimphu (165 Km/5 hrs.)

  • Start early for 5-6 hour drive to Thimphu 
  • En-route visit to Rinchending monastery 
  • Stop at villages and scenic spots for photography 
  • Enjoy waterfalls and natural landscapes along the way 
  • Arrive in Thimphu and check in to hotel 
  • Walking tour in the capital city 
  • Visit Bhutanese Crafts market and Clock Tower Square area 
  • Evening visit to Tashichho Dzong (opens after 5 PM on working days) 
  • Overnight in Thimphu 

Day 03: Excursion to Punakha (85 Km/2-3 hrs.) [One Way]

  • After breakfast, proceed to Punakha (3-hour drive) 
  • Cross spectacular Dochula pass (3,050m) 
  • View peaks of the eastern Himalayas from Dochula 
  • Descend into Wangdue/Punakha valley (1,450m above sea level with sub-tropical climate) 
  • Afternoon visit to impressive Punakha Dzong at confluence of two rivers 
  • Visit Richengang village (unique cluster of connected houses) 
  • Short walk to Chimi Lhakhang temple dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kunley (the divine madman) 
  • Return to Thimphu 
  • Overnight in Thimphu 

Day 04: Half day Thimphu sightseeing and drive to Paro (65 km/1.5 hrs)

Morning - Thimphu Sightseeing: 

  • Visit National Memorial Chorten 
  • Visit Buddha Dordenma 
  • Tour Jungshi handmade paper factory 
  • Visit Motithang Takin Preserve 
  • Explore Simply Bhutan Museum 

Afternoon - Drive to Paro: 

  • Transfer to Paro (1.5 hour drive) 
  • Visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) 
  • Visit Rinpung Dzong 
  • See ruins of Drugyal Dzong 
  • Visit ancient Kichu Lhakhang temple (as time permits) 
    • Overnight in Paro 

Day 05: Paro Valley (Taktsang Hike)

  • Drive to trail head for Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) monastery hike 
  • Hike to monastery at 3,120m/10,200ft 
  • Monastery clings to vertical granite cliff 1,000 feet above valley floor 
  • Optional pony hire available for uphill portion to first viewpoint and cafeteria 
  • Must be able to walk back downhill 
  • Alternative activities available if unable to hike 
  • Return to Paro 
  • Time for stroll around town 
  • Overnight in Paro 

Day 06: Paro – Phuentsholing (160 Km/5 hrs.)

  • Leisurely morning at hotel 
  • Check-out and drive back to Phuentsholing (5-6 hours) 
  • Arrive and check-in to hotel 
  • Evening exploration of Phuentsholing's local shops 
  • Last-minute souvenir shopping opportunity 
  • Browse blend of Bhutanese and Indian goods 
  • Overnight in Phuentsholing 

Day 07: Phuentsholing – Departure

  • Check out from hotel as per flight/train departure time 
  • Transfer to Jaigaon-Phuentsholing Pedestrian Terminal 
  • Exit through Bhutan immigration check post 
  • Meet Indian vehicle and driver 
  • Scenic 4-5 hour drive to Bagdogra Airport or nearby railway stations in Siliguri 
  • Journey through lush landscapes of West Bengal with tea gardens 
  • Transfer to Bagdogra Airport or nearby railway station for onward journey 
  • Important: Book departure flight or train for 2-3 PM or later to allow time for transfer
